FULDA — Indiana Department of Natural Resources conservation officers are investigating a Monday evening ATV crash south of Fulda that resulted in the death of an Evanston man.
Dale Carter, 49, Evanston, was found on Spencer County Road 1200E near the town of Evanston after he had apparently lost control of his four-wheeler and been ejected from it, according to conservation officers.
Carter suffered head and chest trauma, according to authorities. He was flown to St. Vincent Hospital in Evansville, where he died on Tuesday as a result of the injuries.
The accident happened just north of Spencer County Road 1050N on Spencer County Road 1200E, sometime before 7:38 p.m. The cause is unknown. Carter was not wearing a helmet or protective gear, according to authorities.
Assisting agencies included the Spencer County Sheriff’s Office, Santa Claus Police Department, Spencer County EMS, Stat Flight and the New Boston Volunteer Fire Department.
