ATV 101 coming to fairgrounds

The Purdue Extension with the Dubois County 4-H Program will host the ATV 101 Spark Club from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, Oct. 23 to 25, at the Dubois County 4-H Fairgrounds. Participants are required to attend all three days.

Youth in grades three through 12 is invited to participate. The youth will need to provide their own ATV that fits them. No ATVs will be provided.

Participants will have the opportunity to operate an ATV in a controlled environment and learn skills to utilize when riding. The youth will learn controls, riding techniques and the proper way to manage different terrain.

ATV 101 experience will increase rider’s safety awareness and skills, and help identify rider’s abilities and ATV’s capabilities. Youth that completes this hands-on experience are eligible to receive a safety equipment rebate voucher from the Rotary Club of Jasper.

The cost is free for current 4-H members and $15 for those not involved in 4-H. The registration fee helps to cover the 4-H program fee for participants. Families that have a financial hardship which would make it difficult for them to pay are asked to contact the Purdue Extension-Dubois County office.

Preregistration is required by Tuesday, Oct. 16; space is limited. Register by visiting http://bit.ly/Dubois4HATV101 or by contacting the Purdue Extension-Dubois County office at 812-482-1782 or lhaase@purdue.edu.
