Arrested man reportedly sought drug partner

JASPER — Police arrested a man Friday evening after he had reportedly asked a convenience store employee if she wanted to participate in drug activity with him.

The Jasper Police Department was called to Huck’s at 230 Third Ave. at 7:57 p.m. When officers arrived, Charles A. Cahill, 35, New Albany had left the store but was still sitting in his 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee.
Police allege an investigation determined Cahill was impaired with a blood alcohol content of .27 percent, had a suspended license, was classified as a habitual traffic violator and possessed marijuana.
Authorities booked Cahill into the Dubois County Security Center at 10:08 p.m. on a preliminary Level 6 felony count of driving while classified as a habitual traffic violator and preliminary misdemeanor counts of operating while intoxicated, driving while suspended and possession of marijuana.
