FERDINAND — A call Friday reporting a tool theft from a construction site resulted in an arrest.
The Ferdinand Police Department was called at 4 p.m. by workers at the new Scenic Hills Care Center construction site at 710 Sunrise Drive reporting that a temporary worker identified as Darrel R. Harris Jr., 28, Jasper, had taken a drill belonging to Alstadt Plumbing.
Police located Harris traveling westbound on East Fifth Street, stopping him at Fifth and Georgia streets..
Located with Harris was a Milwaukee M12 drill (a $400 value) and two Milwaukee batteries (an $80 value).
After questioning at the police station, authorities booked Harris into the Dubois County Security Center at 6:04 p.m. on a preliminary Level 6 felony count of theft. The preliminary theft charge was enhanced to a felony because of a prior theft conviction, police said.
The Dubois County Sheriff’s Department and a Berg’s Garage wrecker assisted.
