Arrest follows tip on wanted man

FERDINAND — A Friday tip about the possible whereabouts of a wanted individual led to an arrest and new local charges.

Acting on the tip, the Ferdinand Police Department and Dubois County Sheriff’s Office located and took into custody Matthew M. Hart, 40, 413 W. 13th St., Ferdinand, who had warrants out of Florida and Tennessee, according to arrest documents.

During the arrest, police allege Hart was found in possession of a syringe, methamphetamine and marijuana.

Authorities booked Hart into the Dubois County Security Center at 3:25 p.m. Friday on the active warrants and on new local charges of Level 6 felony unlawful possession of a syringe and possession of methamphetamine, plus misdemeanor possession of marijuana.
