Arrest follows theft-in-progress report

JASPER — A Tuesday evening report of a theft in progress at a north-side business resulted in an arrest.

The Jasper Police Department was called at 6:15 p.m. to Batteries Now, 2603 N. Newton St.

Police allege Jordan J. Johnson, 20, Eckerty, was attempting to take a moped frame valued at $100 by putting it in a GMC Yukon located at the back of the business. Johnson allegedly maintained he had been paid by someone to pick up and deliver the frame he was accused of attempting to take.

Authorities booked Johnson into the Dubois County Security Center at 9:40 p.m. on a preliminary misdemeanor count of theft.
