Arrest follows stop for sudden lane change

JASPER — Police took a Pike County man into custody Friday night on a misdemeanor driving offense.

The Jasper Police Department stopped a passenger car driven by Diego Abrego, 18, Petersburg, at 10:20 p.m. after observing the vehicle make a sudden lane change at Third and Newton streets.

Police determined Abrego’s driver’s license was suspended and he had previously been convicted of driving while suspended.

Abrego was booked into the Dubois County Security Center at 11:50 p.m. on a preliminary misdemeanor count of driving while suspended (prior). Abrego posted bond early Saturday.
