FERDINAND — Police placed a Gibson County man under arrest early Sunday after responding to the report of a truck in a roadside ditch north of Ferdinand.
Authorities were notified about the truck at State Road 162 and County Road 815S at 5:10 a.m., according to the Dubois County Sheriff’s Department.
An ambulance and Ferdinand Volunteer Fire Department first responders were dispatched when it was discovered the 2005 Ford F-150 was still occupied by two individuals.
Police alleged both had been drinking and the driver, Michael T. Armstrong, 47, Hazelton, had a blood alcohol content that tested .21 percent after a blood draw at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center.
Authorities booked Armstrong into the Dubois County Security Center at 7:50 a.m. on a preliminary misdemeanor count of operating while intoxicated.
The Ferdinand Police Department, Memorial Hospital Emergency Medical Services and a Uebelhor & Sons wrecker also assisted.
The sheriff’s department estimated total damage from the accident at betweem $1,000 and $2,500.
