HUNTINGBURG — Police placed a man under arrest Saturday after responding to a report of a physical domestic occurring at the Huntingburg City Park.
The call at 4:48 p.m. directed police to the city pool entrance where officers made contact with a female and William A. Artiga Jr., 30, 724 W. Third St., Huntingburg.
Memorial Hospital Emergency Medical Services was called to the scene and the female was taken to be checked at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center.
Police who arrested Artiga reported he became agitated and verbally aggressive after being placed in custody.
The investigation determined the female was the protected person in an active protective order, according to police, and Artiga was also found to have a conviction on his record for domestic battery.
Authorities booked Artiga into the Dubois County Security Center at 6:49 p.m. on preliminary charges that included a Level 6 felony count of domestic battery and misdemeanor counts of disorderly conduct and invasion of privacy.
