HAYSVILLE — A Sunday evening report of a disturbance in the Haysville area resulted in a Jasper drug arrest.
A complainant told police at 7:19 p.m. that Mark A. Atkinson, 60, 636 W. Haysville Road, Jasper, was possibly under the influence of drugs. Atkinson had left the area in a Chevrolet pickup truck when deputies with the Dubois County Sheriff’s Office arrived.
An Indiana State Police trooper located the truck and conducted a traffic stop in the 3200 block of Newton Street in Jasper.
Police determined Atkinson possessed a .357 caliber handgun and a 9mm handgun without a license. He was also found in possession of a white crystalline substance that field tested positive as methamphetamine.
The sheriff’s office said Atkinson was medically cleared at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center for possible hallucinations before being transported to the Dubois County Security Center.
Authorities booked Atkinson into the security center on a preliminary Level 5 felony count of possession of methamphetamine and a preliminary misdemeanor count of possession of a handgun without a license.
