Arrest follows check on possible slumped driver

From Local Sources

BRETZVILLE — A check on a driver who appeared slumped in his seat Wednesday in a parking lot near the Bretzville Junction resulted in an arrest.

A Dubois County Sheriff’s Deputy stopped to check on the driver of a black Chevrolet Cruze that was in the lot of a former restaurant south of the Bretzville Junction at 12:13 p.m.

The driver, Jevin D. Madden, 26, Taswell, was reported to be nervous and have glassey eyes, thick speech and other signs of drug use. Police said he also did not have a valid driver’s license.

A search of the car after the deputy allegedly spotted a bag of marijuana in Madden’s shoe resulted in the discovery of raw marijuana, a pipe with burnt residue and multiple types of pills for which Madden allegedly did not have a prescription.

Authorities booked Madden into the Dubois County Security Center at 1:35 p.m. on a preliminary Level 6 felony count of illegal possession of a narcotic drug and preliminary misdemeanor counts of marijuana possession, possession of paraphernalia  and illegal possession of Schedule drugs.

A Uebelhor & Sons wrecker assisted at the scene.

Madden posted bond Wednesday night.
