CELESTINE — Police accused a motorist of impaired driving after a single-vehicle accident late Saturday morning east of Celestine.

The Dubois County Sheriff’s Department says a 2005 Nissan Altima driven by Robert J. Hillyer, 54, 2905 N. Dillard Road, Birdseye, struck a Dubois Rural Electric Cooperative power pole along State Road 164 near County Road 820E at 11:21 a.m.

Hillyer’s blood alcohol content allegedly tested .26 percent after a blood draw at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center.

Authorities booked Hillyer into the Dubois County Security Center at 3:11 p.m. on a preliminary misdemeanor count of operating while intoxicated. Hillyer posted bond Sunday morning.

Full details of the accident were not immediately available, but the sheriff’s department was assisted at the scene by the Celestine Volunteer Fire Department and Memorial Hospital Emergency Medical Services.
