MENTOR — A call just after midnight reporting a car partially in the roadway west of Mentor led to an arrest.
The Dubois County Sheriff’s Department reports being called to the 8200 block of West State Road 64 at 12:25 a.m.
Deputies report finding a car with its front partially in a ditch and its rear partially in the roadway. Wet, fresh shoe prints at the rear of the unoccupied car led them to make contact with Jerry D. Hammond, 38, 8292 W. State Road 64, Birdseye.
Hammond allegedly stated he was trying to back out of the driveway when he drove the car into a ditch.
After detecting the odor of an alcoholic beverage, the sheriff’s department began an investigation that resulted in Hammond’s blood alcohol content allegedly testing .32 percent at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center.
Authorities booked Hammond into the Dubois County Security Center at 3:09 a.m. on a preliminary misdemeanor count of operating while intoxicated.
A Berg’s Garage wrecker assisted at the scene.
