From Local Sources
Jasper, Southridge and Heritage Hills will all have wrestlers competing at this Saturday’s wrestling semistate at the Ford Center in Evansville with a chance to compete at the state finals in Indianapolis.
The Wildcats advanced one wrestler to semistate — Zach Flynn, who will be wrestling in the 170-pound weight class.
Flynn placed third at the Bloomington South regional last Saturday after defeating Terre Haute South’s Dylan Case by pin (2:30) and Edgewood’s Matthew Archer by a 5-2 decision. His lone loss came to Floyd Central’s Devon Stikes, which he lost in a 5-3 overtime decision.
Flynn also placed third in the Big Eight conference meet this season.
The Southridge wrestling team will be sending five wrestlers to Evansville this Saturday headlined by junior Tucker Schank (160).
Schank won his second straight regional title last Saturday after defeating Noah Minor of Northview (8-4), Timmy Burton of Paoli (pin) and Wade Presson of Bloomington South (10-3).
Schank placed fourth at semistate last year which advanced him to the IHSAA State Finals where he was defeated by Warsaw senior Kyle Hatch, who had a 50-1 record, in the first round.
Sophomore Brad Springer (152) defeated Levi Mikulich of Bloomington North (7-1) and Josh Foster of Floyd Central (12-10) before falling to Derek Blubach of Bloomington South (pin) to advance to the state finals.

Sophomore Cole Calvert (182) started the season on the junior varsity roster but now will be competing for a chance to compete at the state finals. He defeated Bryce Bault of Owen Valley (8-6) and Steven Denny of West Vigo (11-5) to advance. His loss came to Tyler Schlegel of Bloomington South (pin).
