Area tennis players receive recognition

Several local girls tennis players were honored by the Indiana High School Tennis Coaches Association for their performance both on and off the court with the all-state and all-state academic teams.

Jasper’s Sarah Monesmith was named to the All-State First Team for singles while the Cats doubles tandem of Olivia Yarbrough and Caroline Theil was named to the All-State Second Team for doubles. Jasper’s Suchi Bandaru and Josie Yarbrough, Northeast Dubois’ Chloe Terwiske and Heritage Hills’ Kate Kaetzel were all named to the All-State honorable mention roster. Monesmith, Bandaru, Josie Yarbrough, Kaetzel, Terwiske and the doubles tandem of Olivia Yarbrough and Theil were also all named to the District 7 all-district roster.

Making All-State first team academically was Monesmith and Forest Park’s Emily Miller and Anna Becher. Honorable mention went to Olivia Yarbrough, Kaetzel, Jasper’s Maggie Getzin and Forest Park’s Liv Brames.
Jasper, Forest Park and Heritage Hills were also all honored for being academic all-state teams.
