Area runners compete at State FinalsOctober 28, 2018

Five local athletes traveled up to Terre Haute this past Saturday to compete in the IHSAA Cross Country State Finals meet at the LaVern Gibson Championship Course.
Jasper’s Jackson Miller and Heritage Hills’ Mitchell Hopf represented area runners on the boys side while Jasper’s Andi VanMeter and Alyssa Skorge and Forest Park’s Ellie Hall competed on the girls side.
For the boys, Miller placed 56th overall with a time of 16:44 while Hopf didn’t finish the race.
On the girls side, VanMeter placed 108th overall with a time of 20:06 while Skorge placed 129th with a time of 20:25. Hall finished 113th overall for the Rangers with a time of 20:11.
Carmel won the state championship title on the boys side while Carroll (Fort Wayne) took home the crown for the girls.
