Arbutus was a long-time, Algiers community Pike county resident that was loved by numerous friends and family.
Arbutus passed away peacefully in her sleep Monday, May 6, 2019, after a lengthy illness.
Born in Winslow January 30, 1931, she was well known for her many years of work at the Jay C store from where she retired in the late 80’s.
Arbutus was a long-time member of the Algiers United Methodist Church.
She is survived by a brother, Jerry Johnson of Petersburg; her son and daughter-in-law, Tony and Pam Cundiff of Houston Texas; four grandsons, Jeremy Cundiff from Palm Coast, Florida, Shad Cundiff, Nathan and Chance Cundiff from Houston, Texas, fifteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by a son, Joey Dee Cundiff; a brother, George Johnson; sister, Lena Swain; and late husband Georgie James Reed.
Visitation will be held Friday at the Harris Funeral Home in Petersburg from 4-8 p.m.
Service will be on Saturday at 11 a.m. with burial at Walnut Hills Cemetary. She was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
