April Thewes and Derek Mullis exchanged wedding vows on Nov. 4, 2017, in St. Celestine Catholic Church, Celestine. Father Eugene Schmitt officiated at the ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Keith and Gail Thewes of Celestine. The groom is the son of Randy and Linda Mullis of Huntingburg.
The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a white, high-neck ball gown with a cap sleeve made of lace. The gown featured a beaded belt and long train and the bride wore a simple veil.
Music for the ceremony was provided by Sue Lorey of Dubois and Robert Reutman of Celestine Erin Schaefer passed out programs, Brittany Partenheimer was the bride’s assistant and passed out programs and Tyla Bryant and Della Rae Buechler pinned flowers. Following the ceremony, Bryce Wilz, Ripken Ramsey, Landon, Drake and Kasen Lindauer, Clair Ruppe and Jax Jacob distributed candy to guests.
The bride chose cousin Amber Wilz of Jasper as matron of honor and friend Sara Breitwieser of Jasper as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Abby Pierce of Jasper, Haley Hoffman of Schnellville and Haley Thewes of Celestine, cousins of the bride; Kamila Mullis of Boonville, sister-in-law of the groom; and Jennifer Elliott of Princeton, Blakney Verkamp of Celestine and Char Durcholz of Jasper, friends of the couple. Kylie Lindauer of Celestine and Libby Wilz of Jasper, cousins of the bride, were flower girls.
The bridesmaids wore floor-length, chiffon dresses in wine with a halter neckline. The flower girls wore floor-length, ivory dresses with gold glitter.
Mr. Mullis chose friend Jace Merkel of Huntingburg and cousin Jonathan Wirthwein of Jasper as best men. Groomsmen were Ryan Mullis of Boonville and Shawn Mullis of Rockport, brothers of the groom; Lance Thewes of Celestine, brother of the bride; Dakota Bozarth of Vienna, Illinois, godchild of the groom; Nathan Hanloh of Mariah Hill, cousin of the groom; and Jarrod Beier of Ferdinand, Zach Hasenour of Huntingburg and Nathan Blessinger and Brent Weisheit, both of Jasper, friends of the couple. Reese Wilz, godchild of the bride, was ring bearer. He wore dark brown pants with an ivory shirt and brown suspenders.
The mother of the bride wore a floor-length dress and jacket in smoke. The mother of the groom wore a floor-length, beaded dress in ink blue.
A reception was held at the Celestine Community Club in Celestine, with music by Special Delivery DJ.
Following a wedding trip to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, the couple is at home in Celestine.
The bride is a 2012 graduate of Northeast Dubois High School, Dubois, and a 2013 graduate of the Regency Beauty Institute. A cosmetologist, she is the owner of Susie’s Beauty Shoppe in Dubois, works at Cutz Hair Design in Jasper and is a hairstylist for multiple nursing homes in Jasper.
Mr. Mullis is a 2006 graduate of Southridge High School, Huntingburg. He is employed by SITEX Corporation, Jasper.
