She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper, St. Ann’s Society, Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, VFW Auxiliary, past member of the Grandmothers Club, and Patoka Quilting Guild.
Anna Marie was a volunteer at heart and a service-minded woman.
She worked as a housekeeper for Gabe and Marjorie Buehler and Joe and Marie Casper. She was also Marie Casper’s caretaker. Joe strongly influenced her to become a CNA for Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center, which she did for 40 plus years. For 20 years she was a CNA and volunteered in their Laundry Department another 20 plus years as a seamstress. Donna Koval was her last sewing buddy until her health required her retirement. Prior to her job at Memorial Hospital and while raising her five children, she and Eileen Schaber organized and were leaders for the Haysville 4-H Club.
She enjoyed her vegetable and flower garden, canning, cooking for family gatherings, sewing, her cousins’ luncheons, daily walks with her dog around the lake and their back woods trails, especially countryside drives.
She is survived by two daughters, Marge Beckman and Judy Brosmer, both of Jasper; two sons, John Mehringer, Statesville, North Carolina, and Paul Mehringer, West Chester, Ohio; and grandchildren, great-grandchildren, stepgrandchildren, and step-great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death besides her husband are one son, Mark Mehringer; one half-brother, Elmer Vonderheide; and one son-in-law, Bob Beckman.
Private funeral services will be held at Becher-Kluesner Funeral Homes in Jasper, with burial in Fairview Cemetery in Jasper, Indiana.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Northwood Good Samaritan Nursing Center, Memorial Hospital Foundation or the Dementia/Alzheimer’s Association.
