Ambulance collides with deer near Holland Junction

HUNTINGBURG — A deer collided with an ambulance returning from a transport Thursday evening just east of the Holland Junction.

EMT Samuel P. Craney, 22, Montgomery, was driving eastbound on State Road 64 in a Memorial Hospital Emergency Medical Services ambulance when the 7:31 p.m. accident occurred near County Road 650W, according to the Dubois County Sheriff’s Department.

The front, driver’s side of the 2014 Chevrolet collided with a deer that came onto the highway from the north.

The ambulance was able to be driven from the scene but damage was estimated to have exceeded $5,000.
