Altercation call leads to battery, drug arrest

JASPER — A call to police early Sunday reporting a physical altercation led to an arrest on accusations of battery and drug-related paraphernalia possession.


The Jasper Police Department was called at 12:02 a.m. to the report of an altercation at an apartment in the 4000 block of Wilhelm Strasse.

Upon arriving and investigating, police alleged Jeremy A. Kellams, 38, 4060 Wilhelm Strasse, Apt. 1, had been physical with a female at the location.

While on the scene, officers reported also discovering a hypodermic needle and additional drug paraphernalia belonging to Kellams.

Authorities booked Kellams into the Dubois County Security Center at 4:02 a.m. on a preliminary Level 6 felony count of unlawful possession of a hypodermic syringe and preliminary misdemeanor counts of domestic battery and possession of paraphernalia.
