Alleged leaving-the-scene driver gets OWI

JASPER — The Dubois County Sheriff’s Office made an impaired driving arrest Thursday evening while assisting the Jasper Police Department with a reported hit-and-run.

Deputies who heard a 6:55 p.m. dispatch concerning a hit-and-run accident at 12th and Newton streets stopped the suspect vehicle, a 2001 Toyota Highlander, near the 4000 block of Newton Street.

The driver, Anthony J. Guzman, 26, French Lick, was taken to the Jasper Police Station where his blood alcohol content allegedly tested .204 percent.

Authorities booked Guzman into the Dubois County Security Center at 8:49 p.m. on a preliminary misdemeanor count of operating while intoxicated.
