The Raiders (4-0, 2-0) downed Pocket Athletic Conference Small School Division foe Pike Central, 58-0, on Friday. The Raiders had a ground game that could not be stopped, as as they ran for 444 yards out of 454 total yards on offense. Senior quarterback Chase Taylor got it all started with a 49-yard touchdown run at the 9:01 point of the first quarter, and that was all Southridge needed, but tacked on plenty more. Taylor did not complete a pass, but was the team's leading rusher at six carries for 132 yards and three scores. Fellow senior Camden Gasser rushed for five carries for 129 yards and a touchdoown. Sophomore Levi Neukam got in on the action with six carries for 82 yards and a pair of scores. Seniors Keannan Fuller and Matt Springer each ran for a touchdown. Fuller also recorded a safety.
Southridge is scheduled to be back Sept. 18 at home against Gibson Southern.
Forest Park 13, Tecumseh 0
The Rangers (3-1) had their redemption tour on Friday at Tecumseh. After a scoreless first half of football, senior Jake Begle, who has been a prominent rushing force this season, caught the game-winning score for a 54-yard touchdown reception from junior quarterback Cooper Uebelhor with 4:49 to play in the third quarter. Senior Daniel Eckert led the team with eight carries for 77 yards and a touchdown, with his score putting the game out of reach with 1:07 to play in the game.
Forest Park is set to return Sept. 18 at home against Mount Vernon (Posey).
Heritage Hills 36, South Spencer 7
At last, the Patriots (1-3) were winners on Friday night, downing the Rebels on their home field, the Jungle. The Pats scored 27 points before the Rebels had their lone score of the game in the third quarter. Junior Owen Schaad led the way for Heritage Hills with five carries for 129 yards and two touchdowns. Sophomores Skyler and Shane Staples both made their impact on the evening, with Shane rushing for a score, and Skyler returning a punt for a touchdown. Heritage Hills totaled 359 yards of offense Friday.
The Pats will look to build off of this momentum Sept. 18 at North Posey.
