Aline M. Brescher, 85, of Ireland, passed away at 11:28 a.m. on Friday, June 14, 2019, at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper.
Aline was born in St. Henry on June 25, 1933, to Robert and Ida (Hassfurther) Jochum. She married Allen O. Brescher on June 19, 1954, in St. Benedict’s Cathedral in Evansville. He preceded her in death on September 5, 2015.
She was a graduate of Memorial High School in Evansville.
Aline was a homemaker and was co-owner and secretary for Brescher Soil Service for 20 years. She then retired from St. Mary Catholic Church in Ireland, where she had been a secretary for several years.
She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Ireland, where she and her husband received the Brute Award in 1999 for their service in the Catholic Faith. She was also a member of St. Ann’s Society, Jasper D of I, V.F.W. Auxiliary, the Women of the Moose, and the Jasper German Club. She also volunteered for the Dubois County Museum.
She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She also loved to read and playing cards.
Surviving are four daughters, Gerilyn (Wayne) Schmitt, Ireland, Lisa (Rob) Brescher-Masters, Louisville, Kentucky, Amy (Bernie) Rasche, Ireland, and Renee (Steve) Williams, Jasper; four sons, Mark (Diane) Brescher, Kurt (Margaret) Brescher and Pat (Deb) Brescher, all of Ireland, and Jeff Brescher, Jasper; 26 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and one sister-in-law, Shirley Schmitt, Jasper.
Preceding her in death besides her husband was one brother, Leroy Jochum.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Aline M. Brescher will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 28, 2019, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Ireland, with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
A visitation will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, June 27, 2019, at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper,. The St. Ann’s Society and D of I will pray a rosary at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
