Airport to open bids for runway work

From Local Sources

HUNTINGBURG — The Dubois County Airport Authority will open bids Thursday for airfield paving and electrical work needed for the runway extension project.

The bid opening will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Huntingburg Airport, 2495 W. County Road 900S.

After the opening, the bids will be reviewed by project engineer Curtis Brown and a suggested bidder will be sent to the Federal Aviation Administration for approval.

The FAA has designated in its budget $7 million for the extension project. That will cover the majority of the project, including lowering County Road 200 West, constructing a tunnel over the road near the end of the new runway, and moving 270,000 cubic yards of dirt to the end of runway to fill in where the extension will be located.
