Aders earns all-state, all-star nods

Recent Jasper High School graduate Evan Aders will play in this weekend’s Indiana North/South All-Star baseball series at Ball State University. Aders, Jasper’s career leader in hits who batted .462 this season in guiding the Wildcats to a state runner-up finish, is among four southwestern Indiana players representing the South squad. The others are Evansville Memorial’s Drew Ashley, Evansville Reitz’s Elijah Dunham and South Spencer’s Sammy Rowan. This marks the eighth straight season and the 11th time in the last 12 years overall that Jasper has had a player named to the All-Star team.

Aders was also one of three outfielders named to the Indiana High School Baseball Coaches Association’s Class 3A all-state team, which was announced recently. A total of 11 players were named to the squad, and Jasper had another all-state honoree with sophomore first baseman Trevor Krapf, who hit .338 this season. Jasper senior Reece Kleinhelter and junior Austin Simmers were named honorable mention all-state for Class 3A, and Northeast Dubois junior Brandon Merkel was likewise an honorable mention pick on the Class 1A all-state team.
