SANTA CLAUS — An investigation into an accident northwest of Santa Claus resulted in a Dale man being formally charged with impaired driving last week.
Arrest documents indicate the Spencer County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a two-vehicle accident in the 16000 block of Spencer County Road 500E at 7:35 p.m. Friday, April 10.
A deputy alleged Jose Gonzalez Leyva, 47, 419 S. Sunset St., Dale, who had driven a 2005 Dodge Durango involved in the accident, showed signs of intoxication and had a blood alcohol content that tested .23% in a toxicology tested at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper.
Gonzalez Leyva was booked into the Spencer County Jail that night and, on April 16, he was formally charged in Spencer Circuit Court with misdemeanor operating while intoxicated.
