FERDINAND — The Ferdinand Police Department reports working a minor accident Friday afternoon in the construction zone on 23rd Street.
Patrick H. Kempf, 61, St. Anthony, was westbound on 23rd Street in a 2010 Pontiac Vibe when the 2:20 p.m. mishap occurred at Industrial Park Road, according to police.
Kempf, who had stopped at the intersection, intended to turn right to go northbound, according to police. Authorities said he came to a complete stop when he observed another vehicle not involved in the accident northbound on Industrial Park Road.
Police said the Kempf Vibe was struck in the rear hatch area by a 2003 Ford Explorer Sport driven by Joshua L. Blackgrave, 27, Jasper. Blackgrave had also been westbound on 23rd Street prior to the collision.
Kempf complained of minor neck pain but no immediate medical assistance was required by either driver, according to police.
Police said Blackgrave admitted fault for the accident. Damage was estimated at $3,500 to the Kempf Vibe and $1,000 to the Blackgrave Explorer Sport.
Both vehicles were able to be driven from the scene.
No citations were issued.
Ferdinand police who reported on the mishap advised all motorists to proceed with caution when driving in any construction zone, especially in the congested areas.
