HUNTINGBURG — A Saturday night accident along a county road northeast of Huntingburg occurred after a teen driver encountered a railroad crossing.
Mauricio A. Bolanos, 17, Jasper, was eastbound on County Road 400S in a 2007 Toyota Yaris when the 10:20 p.m. accident occurred east of Cherry Street, according to the Dubois County Sheriff’s Office.
Bolanos told a deputy his steering wheel jerked and he could not control the vehicle after encountering the railroad crossing.
The Toyota went off the north side of the roadway and stopped in a water-filled ditch, according to the sheriff’s office.
Damage was estimated between $2,500 and $5,000.
