HUNTINGBURG — A Jasper man was accused of driving while impaired by police responding to a single-vehicle accident just north of Huntingburg early Sunday.
Kody A. Neu, 26, 3584 W. 200S, Jasper, was northbound on Old Huntingburg Road in a 2000 Toyota Avalon when the vehicle went into a ditch on the east side of the roadway, according to the Dubois County Sheriff’s Office.
A deputy was dispatched to the scene at 12:49 a.m.
The sheriff’s office said Neu exhibited signs of impairment and had a blood alcohol content that tested .23% on a portable breath test. Neu is reported to have refused certified testing at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center.
Authorities booked Neu into the Dubois County Security Center at 2:44 a.m. Sunday on preliminary misdemeanor counts that included operating while intoxicated (test refusal). He was released from the jail Sunday night.
A KARS wrecker assisted and damage in the accident was estimated between $2,500 and $5,000.
