Mary and William Martin of Jasper were in high school in Illinois when they first met at Mary's grandparents' 50th wedding anniversary party. The couple celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary Monday with cake and flowers from Northwood Retirement Community where William is a resident.

The couple celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary with their daughter, Leslie Waite, of Otwell, right.

"We had time in our lives where we didn't agree but we just went along with it and didn't let it bother us," Mary said when asked how the couple made their marriage last 70 years.
