JASPER — The Dubois County Health Department reported today the county’s fifth death related to COVID-19.
“It is with tremendous sorrow that we share the news of another loss of one of our own county residents related to COVID-19,” said Dubois County Health Officer Dr. Ted Waflart. “Having to report a loss is never easy. Dubois County Health Department staff and I extend prayers and deepest condolences to this individual’s family friends during this time.”
The county health department also reported today two more COVID-19 cases. Of the county’s 242 cases, 175 have recovered. A total of 1,986 Dubois County residents have been tested.
According to Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center’s COVID-19 Dashboard, the Jasper hospital has submitted 1,327 tests. Of those, 1,173 were negative and three are pending. The hospital notes that a patient’s address will determine what county reports the positive case.
The Indiana State Department of Health reported today 533 new cases, bringing the statewide total to 40,430 cases. A total of 2,251 Hoosiers have died from the virus and another 182 probable deaths have been reported.
