50 years: Ron and Nelda Mendel

Ron and Nelda Mendel of Jasper will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary Saturday, April 26, with a Mass of thanksgiving at 5:30 p.m. in Precious Blood Catholic Church in Jasper, followed by a dinner for invited guests and an open house at 8 p.m. in the Arnold F. Habig Community Center in Jasper.

Ronald Mendel and Nelda Blackgrave were married April 18, 1964, in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper. Father Albertus Lutterbach officiated. Their attendants were Vera (Keller) Price, David Mendel, Norman Kern and the late Ruth (Blackgrave) Kern, Susan (Beyke) Mendel and Kenneth Mendel.

Mr. and Mrs. Mendel are the parents of two children, Curt Mendel and wife Sherri of Jasper and Angela Stremming and husband Brian of Martinsville. They have six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Mr. Mendel retired from Kimball International, and Mrs. Mendel owned and operated Mendel’s Rubber Stamps.
