50 years: Jim and Doris Egler

Jim and Doris Egler of Jasper have returned from a 50th anniversary vacation with their family at Gulf Shores, Ala. They will celebrate the anniversary with a Mass of thanksgiving at 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, in Holy Family Catholic Church, Jasper. A reception for invited guests will follow at Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 673 in Jasper.

Jim Egler and Doris Hopster were married Sept. 7, 1963, in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Jasper. Father Albert Scheller officiated. Their attendants were Shirley (Haase) Giesler,  Diana (Hopster) Mehringer, Eloise (Hopster) Berg, Shirley (Gehlhausen) Duncan, Joyce Egler, Cyril Egler, Donald Hopster and the late Arthur Klem.

The Eglers are the parents of four children, Brian Egler and wife Lori of Westfield, Denise Van Doren and husband Marty and Brenda Welsh and husband Andy, both of Jasper, and Dean Egler and wife Stephanie of Zionsville. They have nine grandchildren.

Mr. Egler retired from Design Institute America, and Mrs. Egler retired from German American Bank in Jasper.
