5 arrested in coordinated Spencer County bust

From Local Sources

GRANDVIEW — Five people were arrested Monday on drug-related counts and charges are pending against two others as the result of a coordinated effort between the community and law enforcement agencies, says Spencer County Sheriff’s Office Sheriff Kelli Reinke.

Members of the general public forwarded information to Spencer County deputies who led an investigation with the Indiana State Police All Policing Crimes Unit as well as the Warrick County Sheriff’s Office, according to Reinke.

The joint efforts resulted in the Spencer County Prosecutor’s Office and Spencer Circuit Court issuing search warrants for residences of 8605 N. Spencer County Road 550E and 8649 N. Spencer County Road 550E, Grandview.

Reinke said law enforcement units arrived at those residences and executed the warrants with the assistance of state police SWAT and K-9 members.

Those arrested were:

Maria Cook, charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia, possession of a legend (prescription) drug, possession of a controlled substance and neglect of a dependent.

“This investigation is an example of what happens when a community stands strong against drugs,” Reinke said. “We will never rid Spencer County of the drug problem but we will send a message to those involved in drug activity that it will not be tolerated within our communities. We will continue to welcome community support and joint law enforcement efforts.”
