JASPER — Three people were taken to jail after a traffic stop early today in Jasper.
The Jasper Police Department stopped a Chrysler Pacifica at 1:19 a.m. after an officer observed the vehicle southbound at 15th and Newton streets without headlights.
Police say the driver, Clara F. Whippo, 21, 1040 Fairview Ave., Jasper, was found to be driving without a license. Her passengers, Chaz C. Cherry, 28, 460 Riverside Drive, Jasper, and Ira J. Peters, 29, 1411 Main St., were wanted on active body attachment warrants, according to police.
Authorities booked Whippo into the Dubois County Security Center at 2:21 a.m. on a preliminary misdemeanor count of operator never licensed. She was also cited for no insurance and improper headlights, according to police.
Cherry and Peters were also booked into the security center on their active body attachment warrants involving previous judgments in the amounts of $925 and $1,399.23, respectively.
