JASPER — Three people suffered injury in a car-versus-pickup truck head-on collision Saturday night on Jasper’s west side.
Kyle Allen, 17, Jasper, was eastbound on State Road 56 in a 1999 Oldsmobile when the 8 p.m. accident occurred at St. Charles Street, according to the Jasper Police Department.
Allen attempted to turn north onto St. Charles Street but failed to yield the right away to a westbound 2016 Dodge Ram driven by Jerry Watson, 78, of Sumner, Illinois, according to police.
The head-on collision that occurred in the middle of the intersection totaled both vehicles.
Police said Allen was treated at the scene for a cut to his hand and chest pain.
Watson and a passenger were transported to Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center, with the passenger treated for shoulder and abdominal pain, police said.
The Jasper Volunteer Fire Department and Memorial Hospital Emergency Medical Services assisted.
An officer cited Allen for failure to yield the right of way.
