Following graduation Mass, two eighth-grade students were awarded the Young Christian Award from Holy Trinity Catholic School’s Class of 2020. This award is given to one eighth-grade boy and one eighth-grade girl that excel in leadership, service and overall character. This award is voted upon by Holy Trinity Middle School faculty and school administration.
The female recipient of the 2020 Young Christian Award is Sarah Oeding, daughter of Gary and Susan Oeding of Jasper. Throughout her time at Holy Trinity Catholic School, Sarah was a student who led by example, and is noted for her constant helpful demeanor, which was evident through her participation as a Student Ambassador. She was active in the Builders Club. Though she was quiet, there was rarely a time during the day she did not have a smile on her face.
The male recipient of the 2020 Young Christian Award is Brandon Mehringer, son of Lori and Todd Mehringer of Jasper. Throughout his time at Holy Trinity Catholic School, Brandon was a student that excelled in and out of the classroom. His positive attitude and respect for others were two of his strongest character traits. Brandon was involved in numerous extracurricular activities, such as Student Ambassadors, Builders Club, Academic Bowl, Boy Scouts, band, soccer and basketball. His willingness to help others was evident at school and his parish.
