HOLLAND — Two pickup trucks were totaled and both drivers complained of pain after a Thursday afternoon accident at Holland.
Dorian C. Goebel, 36, Petersburg, was southbound on State Road 161 in a 2008 Chevrolet pickup truck when the 4:33 p.m. accident occurred just north of the Main Street intersection, according to the Dubois County Sheriff’s Department.
Goebel told deputies that when he steered into the turn lane to go west on Main Street he saw another pickup truck in the turn lane in front of him. Goebel said he attempted to brake but was unable to slow enough to avoid colliding with the 1997 Chevrolet pickup truck being driven by Quinton J. Gogel, 19, of Huntingburg, according to the sheriff’s department.
Police said Goebel complained of neck pain after the collision and Gogel complained of head pain.
Neither driver required an ambulance to transport them for treatment but both vehicles were listed by the sheriff’s department as total losses.
A deputy cited Goebel for following too closely.
The Holland Volunteer Fire Department and a Blesch Sales & Service wrecker assisted.
