2 men killed after exchanging gunfire

JASPER — Two men were killed Saturday morning after exchanging gunfire on Jasper's north side.
The Jasper Police Department received a 911 call around 2:15 a.m. Saturday reporting a male with a gunshot wound needing assistance on Rhine Strasse near the 47th Street intersection. The male was later identified as Andres C. Lopez, 19, of Owensboro, Kentucky.
The Jasper Police Department received a second call from Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center reporting that a male had been privately transported to their emergency room with a gunshot wound. The second male was identified as Tre Carnahan, 21, of Eckerty.
Police learned that an incident occurred between both men in the Maple Grove Trailer Park south of the 47th Street intersection. Both exchanged gunfire with handguns. Both men later died from their injuries at Memorial Hospital.
The investigation is ongoing.
The Jasper Police Department was assisted by Jasper first responders, Memorial EMS and ER staff, Indiana State Police, Dubois County Sheriff’s Office, Dubois County Prosecutor’s Office, Dubois County Coroner’s Office, Sternberg’s Wrecker Service and Uebelhor’s Wrecker Service.
