Andrew Stratton, son of Bob and Jen Stratton, and Kate Werner, daughter of Kyle and Audrey Werner, both students from Holy Trinity Catholic School, were the top girl and boy winners of the fourth grade in The American Legion Flag Education Testing Program. Both students received a post award certificate and an American Legion Americanism medallion during their school awards day on May 24.

The major objective of the flag testing program is to build patriotism in youth and to develop a thorough understanding of proper flag display and courtesy.

The American Legion was instrumental in convening the first National Flag Conference in 1923. At this conference, the Legion established a set of rules of civilian flay courtesy that later became the basis for the flag code adopted by Congress in 1942.
