JASPER — The Jasper Police Department took two individuals into custody overnight while executing an arrest warrant.
A warrant for the arrest of Dakota A. King, 25, 1340 Jackson St., Jasper, was issued Monday in Dubois Circuit Court after the Jasper Police Department completed an investigation started during the weekend.
Court documents detail how, at 1:30 a.m. Saturday, police made contact with a female with visible injuries after being called to the report of a domestic disturbance.
Police who were unable to locate King, the suspect, received information about his whereabouts Wednesday night.
While searching for King on Jasper’s north side Wednesday, police made contact with Kristina M. Lewis, 34, of Jasper, who is now accused of trying to lead police away from a car in which King was ultimately found to be hiding.
Lewis was arrested and booked into the Dubois County Security Center at 1:17 a.m. today on a preliminary Level 6 felony count of assisting a criminal.
Authorities booked King into the security center at 2:34 a.m. on the active warrant charging him with a Level 6 felony count of strangulation and misdemeanor counts of domestic battery and criminal recklessness stemming from the weekend incident.
