JASPER — A 19-year-old Huntingburg women was arrested Friday afternoon after officers responded to Walmart in reference to a female shoplifter who was running from the store.
The Jasper Police Department reports that Taylor K. Frick, 318 N. Geiger St., Apt. 3, of Huntingburg, was seen running from the store and entering a Cadillac SUV just after noon today.
Police were supplied a plate number for the vehicle, which they later located at Village Court Apartments parking lot in Jasper.
Police say Frick was in the vehicle.
When officers approached, they say Frick allegedly put a bag back in the vehicle and locked the door. She refused consent to search, police said.
A search warrant was requested and granted from the Dubois County Prosecutors Office.
Officers searched the vehicle, allegedly discovering stolen items from Walmart totaling $155.19 that included a lithium battery jump pack as well as other auto accesories. Police say other household items found included batteries, a light and a fan.
During the search, police say methamphetamines and paraphernalia were also allegedly found.
Frick was arrested and preliminarily charged with a Level 6 felony count of possession of methamphetamine, and misdemeanor charges of theft, criminal mischief and possession of paraphernalia.
Police say the criminal mischief charge was due to the fact that some of the stolen items had been opened and will be unable to be put back on the shelf.
