ECKERTY — A southern Indiana man was killed late Tuesday morning in an off-road vehicle accident at State Road 64 and Kaiser Road near Eckerty in Crawford County.
George E. Williams, 80, Jeffersonville, was eastbound on Kaiser Road in a Bush Hog 440 side-by-side ORV and was attempting to cross State Road 64 at the time of the 11 a.m. accident, according to the Department of Natural Resources.
Conservation officers said Williams pulled out in front of a Dodge Caravan driven by Lawrence G. Basham, 77, Tell City.
Basham attempted to avoid the collision but was unsuccessful, according to conservation officers.
Williams was pronounced dead at the scene.
Basham was transported to Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper with leg pain.
The Crawford County Sheriff’s Department assisted.
