DALE — One person was killed in a hit-and-run accident Thursday that also resulted in the arrest of the suspect.
The Dale Police Department says Eugene Hufnagel, 82, Dale, was operating a motorized, three-wheeled mobility scooter at Cherry and Washington streets at the time of the 2:42 p.m. accident.
A green, southbound Chevrolet Blazer struck Hufnagel and then left the scene, police reported.
The Rockport Police Department later located the Blazer.
Dale police allege Amanda K. Huff, 48, of Dale was the driver of the SUV.
Huff was arrested and booked into the Spencer County Law Enforcement Center on a preliminary Level 5 felony count of leaving the scene of a fatal accident.
Toxicology results on Huff are pending.
The ongoing investigation is being conducted by the Dale police and Indiana State Police.
The Spencer County Sheriff’s Department, Spencer County Emergency Medical Services, the Santa Claus Police Department and the Spencer County Coroner’s Office also assisted.
