ELBERFELD — One Pike County man is dead and another is in police custody after a shooting late Sunday night north of Elberfeld in Warrick County.
The Warrick County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call at 11:05 p.m. in reference to the report of a shooting at 10388 Nobles Chapel Road.
The 911 caller identified himself as the shooter and told dispatchers he would remain at the scene until deputies arrived, according to the sheriff’s department.
Deputies arrived to find Joshua Nolan, 39, Winslow, deceased with a single gunshot wound to the head.
The suspect, taken into custody without incident, is identified as David Dunn, 35, Petersburg.
Police say the incident started as a verbal argument that escalated into a shooting.
Dunn was booked into the Warrick County Jail. Police say he has been charged with voluntary manslaughter.
An autopsy is scheduled for later today.
