GRANDVIEW — The Spencer County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim killed in a motorcycle crash Sunday afternoon east of Grandview.
Pronounced dead at the scene of the 4:30 p.m. CT crash on State Road 66 was Roger Weatherholt, 57, of Grandview.
A passenger was airlifted from the scene by a medical helicopter.
An investigation determined a motorcycle operated by Weatherholt was eastbound on State Road 66 at an excessive speed when Weatherholt lost control of the bike.
Alcohol was thought to be a contributing factor and neither Weatherholt nor his passenger were wearing helmets, according to the coroner’s office.
Weatherholt died of blunt force trauma to the head and chest.
The condition of the passenger is unknown, according to the coroner’s office.
Indiana State Police, Spencer County Emergency Medical Services, the Grandview Volunteer Fire Department, Ohio Township Volunteer Fire Department, the Chrisney Volunteer Fire Department and a Stat Flight helicopter assisted.
