Steve Allen, 64, Huntingburg, died at 9:33 a.m. Monday, Sept. 23, 2013, in the emergency room of Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper.
He was born in Birmingham, Ala., Dec. 13, 1948, to James Woodrow and Vivian (Fuller) Allen. He married Paula S. Preston on March 18, 1983, in Louisville.
Surviving are his wife, Paula S. Allen; three daughters, Candace Allen Francis and husband Christopher and Christi West of Louisville and Jessica Schmett and husband Dustin of Huntingburg; two brothers, Tommy and Randy Allen of Louisville; and six grandchildren.
Mr. Allen was a restaurant owner and operated the Dairy Queen in Huntingburg. He attended Salem United Church of Christ in Huntingburg and enjoyed golfing and bass fishing. He was a decorated U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg. Pastor Mark West will officiate. Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery in Huntingburg. Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2366 Memorial Detail will conduct military graveside rites.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
