Reds set for World Series battle

The Jasper Reds are set to open play in the National Baseball Congress World Series at 8 EDT tonight in Wichita, Kan., as the Reds clash with the El Dorado (Kan.) Broncos. Jasper High School graduate Karson Nixon will receive the starting pitching nod for Jasper against El Dorado, which won the NBC World Series title in 2009. The Reds will compete again Saturday, playing at 1 p.m. if they lose today or 11 p.m. if they win. The Reds will face the Tulsa (Okla.) Braves or the Austin (Texas) Gold Sox in Saturday’s matchup.
