NEWTONVILLE — A Warrick County man was pronounced dead after a one-vehicle accident late Saturday morning a mile west of Newtonville.
Lawrence A. Rasche, 62, of Newburgh, died at the scene of the 11:23 a.m. CDT crash along State Road 70 near Spencer County Road 475E, according to the Spencer County Sheriff’s Department.
Spencer County Coroner Bob Fuller said Rasche had been eastbound on the highway in a pickup truck. A witness saw him veer left of center. The truck went into a ditch and flipped, Fuller said.
Spencer County Emergency Medical Services and a LifeFlight helicopter ambulance assisted at the scene.
Rasche was extricated from the truck and was being readied for an airlift when his heart stopped, according to police. Efforts to resuscitate him failed. Fuller said his death was due to injuries sustained in the crash.
The crash closed State Road 70 for about three hours.
